You should keep in mind that more weight does not mean the stone is more precious. It is in fact the reverse of it. CZ stones, which look like diamonds, are heavier than genuine diamonds. Fake diamonds float in water while real ones sink. In addition, real stones are radiolucent, which means they do not show up on x-rays.

There are two things to look for as a layperson that hasn't seen a lot of diamonds and has no equipment in order to separate Cubic Zirconia and Diamond.
Firstly, check and see if the top of the stone looks worn or abraded...not cracked, but just worn down or if the edges where the facets meet are rough. This would indicate a CZ, as diamonds are MUCH harder than CZ and not likely to wear in this manner, where as it is common for CZ.
Also, a CZ has significantly more "fire", meaning that you will see a much more obvious rainbow of color flashes when you look at a CZ as opposed to a real diamond, which (assuming it is a good crystal) WILL show some flashes of color, but is in general much whiter and less colorful than your usual CZ.
However I would always suggest having it tested by a professional to be sure! :) And don't forget that there are many other types of diamond simulants besides just CZ (white zircon, white sapphire, moissanite, etc.) not to mention actual synthetic, man made diamond as opposed to natural diamond mined from the earth.
